“…and to do good in the world.”

First Atlas pod serves at White Center Food Bank

The RISD Pod (Ms. Pottberg’s mentor group) visited the White Center Food Bank recently to give back to others. Members of RISD helped pack food for future handouts, served community members, and had a great time connecting with the leadership team at the food bank. Moving forward, we plan to send a pod to the community food bank each Friday! Our goal is to provide our students with opportunities “to do good in the world,” as our mission states, and to learn the great joy and responsibility of serving others. We would love for you to join us on an upcoming trip; if you are interested in joining, please reach out to your student’s mentor.

How to Support Your Local Food Bank:

  •  Donate money! Both food banks have easy ways to donate on their websites.
  • Donate food! Especially canned meat, frozen fish, peanut-butter, and halal items
  • Volunteer! Food banks need regular volunteers and one-time volunteers for all sorts of things.
  • Join us for a trip!

Important Staff Update

Unfortunately, Mr. Peck has decided that for personal reasons, he will need to step away from his position here at Atlas. This was a difficult decision for him. We wish him well and thank him for his work.

Our mentors have helped support students during this time, and Mr. Peck was able to say goodbye. Please reach out to Andrea Klein at with any questions.

Making History

The Atlas Orcas are playing their first basketball game in the history of the school tonight at 4 PM in Tacoma!

To continue to ensure we get co-curricular programming up and running and to support things like our new school library and field trips, please consider making a donation directly to Summit Atlas.

We are looking for volunteers to support the front office on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Due to our incredible volunteers on Mondays and Wednesdays, we have been able to increase our efficiency and productivity from an operations standpoint. The work is easy, and the kids are awesome.

Please reach out to Halima at if you might be able to support us.

Even volunteering once a month is a huge help to our school community. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

Recruitment 2018-2019: We need YOUR help!

Recruitment is a team effort and has lasting impact on our school community. Enrollment numbers are tied to state funding, ensure we are properly staffed, and contribute to a positive, full-school healthy culture. We are asking this recruitment season that each of our families recruit one new family for the coming school year! #Each1Reach1

Here are some easy ways you can get started:
Attend an upcoming Open House and bring an interested family with you!
Post upcoming Open House and Shadow Days on your social media!
Tell anyone in your networks about Summit Atlas: work, faith communities, book clubs, the gym, etc.!
Host a house party: we will bring the food; you just invite friends!
Volunteer to canvas neighborhoods with us: just email for details!
